Small, but with real substance: The Zebrano Theater in Friedrichshain stands for Berlin cabaret and variety arts in the most intimate setting. Chanson, slam poetry, and literary theater alternate, while renowned artists transform the tiny stage at Ostkreuz into one of the city's most charming venues.

Cabaret, Chanson, and Variety Arts in Friedrichshain

The Zebrano Theater was founded in 2006 and utilizes the premises of a former puppet theater. This intimate neighborhood theater is located just a two-minute walk from the Ostkreuz S-Bahn station. In its small, cozy hall with red velvet armchairs and a piano, it offers a sophisticated and varied stage for artists, cabaret performers, and comedians. Up to 65 visitors can find space in front of the small stage. While this may sound small, it makes the evening all the more personal.

The Zebrano Theater’s musically and literarily oriented program consists of variety arts, cabaret, and chanson, complemented by literary events and children’s shows. The stage has already been graced by renowned artists such as Bodo Wartke, Sebastian Krämer, and Horst Evers. The Zebrano Theater stands for Berlin cabaret in a dense, immediate atmosphere.

Zebrano Theater: Legendary Series and Reading Stage

Regular highlights include the “Club Genie und Wahnsinn” (Club Genius and Madness), a legendary series hosted by singer-songwriter Sebastian Krämer every first Sunday evening of the month. Additionally, Zebrano strives to provide a stage for literary theater: from slam poetry to young German literature and international artists, there is a comprehensive literary program on Berlin’s first unplugged reading stage. This mix of wit, words, and music makes the cabaret theater so special.

The theater is part of the eponymous bar at the corner of Sonntagstraße and Lenbachstraße. With deep leather furniture, the bar invites you to relax with a drink before or after the show. In addition to drinks, small snacks such as quiche or soup are also offered. This way, a cabaret evening at the Zebrano Theater in Friedrichshain can be wonderfully rounded off.
