In Neukölln's Reuterkiez, near Weserstraße, lies a small cabaret theater with a rich history: Since 1987, Theater im Keller has been known for its travesty shows that balance drag glamour, sharp humor, and genuine stage artistry. Those who sit here rarely sit still for long.

Theater im Keller: Travesty, Cabaret, and No Empty Seats

The theater has made a name for itself far beyond the city limits, presenting unusual shows and self-produced dance and music performances three days a week. The performances are not only entertainment but also a reflection on gender roles and societal norms. The program at Theater im Keller deliberately focuses on bold, non-conformist travesty and cabaret. Sharp, ironic humor makes the audience laugh and think, while the themes address political, social, and cultural issues. Those sitting in the front row should also expect to be actively involved and will be surprised at how much they can smile about themselves.

Dining, Glamour, and more than 150 Shows per Year

With over 150 performances a year, there’s always something happening at Theater im Keller. The theater foyer, with its varied gastronomy, opens two hours before the show begins. This allows for a relaxed start to the evening before the stage takes over. The show is also designed so that guests of all languages can follow it: it is moderated in German and English. Before and after the performances, as well as during the show break, the gastrobar in the foyer invites guests to linger with tapas, drinks, and cocktails. Glitter, wit, and genuine stage craftsmanship combine at Weserstraße 211 to create a cabaret evening with its very own charm.
