Wave riding and surfing at 2Wave on Havelsee in Brandenburg not only brings good cheer but also makes surfers' hearts beat faster!
Who would have thought that you could surf in the middle of Brandenburg? At 2Wave on Havelsee, this is an experience not to be missed! For surf lovers, the journey from Berlin to the sea is often too far to practice the trendy water sport regularly. But surfing on a lake? What sounds impossible at first can be a great alternative for water enthusiasts – and it’s just a good hour’s drive from Berlin. The reason for this is 2Wave’s specially designed boat, which generates two artificial waves, providing plenty of surf action on the otherwise calm waters.
The starting point is the Pritzerbe pier on Havelsee. Before setting off, swimsuits, towels, wetsuits (which can be rented on-site if needed), and surfboards are loaded onto the boat, and off we go! The boat first cruises leisurely out onto the lake, with initial theoretical instructions, tips, and tricks already provided along the way. Afterwards, the surfers, along with their surfboards, are put into the water, where they can enjoy themselves for the next 2-3 hours. The boat continuously rotates between two buoys and can pull two surfers behind it per run. A special ballast compensation system generates two sufficiently large waves behind the boat. Surfers initially hold onto a rope to gain enough speed. Once caught by the wave and having developed a feel for it, they let go of the rope and are carried by the wave. The surfing experience is, of course, not identical to surfing in the open sea, but it brings a good portion of a holiday feeling and, above all, it’s perfect for getting a feel for the sport of surfing. 2Wave therefore offers fun for beginners, as well as training opportunities for advanced surfers. The boat is a revolution for surfing and is unique in its form worldwide.
Surfing at 2Wave is not comparable to other water sports in its category, such as water skiing, because although you get the necessary initial momentum from the boat here, the main focus is on bringing the board and wave into harmony. In between, there are always helpful tricks from the trainer on board.
In addition to the sport, the beautiful idyll rounds off a perfect day. The jetty on Havelsee is quietly located and also offers companions the opportunity to relax and simply enjoy the moment. The surf season runs from April to October, and appointments are only possible by arrangement. Groups of up to ten people can also book the surf trip exclusively for events such as team-building measures or bachelor parties.
