Who would have thought you could surf in the middle of Brandenburg? At 2Wave on Lake Havel, it’s an experience you definitely shouldn’t miss! For surf enthusiasts, the journey from Berlin to the sea is often too far to regularly practice this trendy water sport. But surfing on a lake? What sounds impossible at first can be a great alternative for water lovers – and it’s just about an hour’s drive from Berlin. The reason is 2Wave’s specially designed boat, which generates two artificial waves, ensuring plenty of surf action on the otherwise calm waters.

How does a surf trip with 2Wave work?

The starting point is the Pritzerbe jetty on Lake Havel. Before heading out, swimwear, a towel, a wetsuit (available for rent on-site if needed), and a surfboard are loaded onto the boat, and off we go! The boat leisurely heads out onto the lake, where initial theoretical instructions, tips, and tricks are already provided. Afterwards, the surfers, along with their surfboards, are put into the water, where they can enjoy themselves for the next 2-3 hours. The boat constantly rotates between two buoys and can pull two surfers per stretch. A special ballast system generates two sufficiently large waves behind the boat. Surfers first hold onto a rope to gain enough speed. As soon as you’re caught by the wave and have developed a feel for it, you let go of the rope and are carried by the wave. The surfing experience is, of course, not identical to surfing in the open sea, but it brings a good dose of holiday feeling and, above all, it’s perfect for getting a feel for the sport of surfing. Therefore, 2Wave offers fun for beginners, but also training opportunities for advanced surfers. The boat is a revolution for surfing and unique in its form worldwide.

Surfing at 2Wave is not comparable to other water sports in its category, such as waterskiing, because although you get the necessary initial momentum from the boat, the main focus is on bringing the board and wave into harmony. In between, there are always helpful tips from the onboard coach. In addition to the sport, the beautiful idyllic setting completes a perfect day. The jetty on Lake Havel is quietly located and also offers companions the opportunity to relax and simply enjoy the moment. The surf season runs from April to October, and appointments are only possible by arrangement. Groups of up to ten people can also book the surf trip exclusively for events such as team-building measures or bachelor parties.
