The taz canteen (formerly taz-Café) on Friedrichstraße is not just named that, but is actually connected to the editorial office of taz.

Many editors actually have lunch in the taz canteen, but the canteen is open to everyone. And of course, you can read to your heart’s content: in addition to taz and le monde diplomatique, other daily newspapers are also available for reading. The taz canteen offers inexpensive and healthy lunch and dinner with a focus on regional, seasonal, and sustainable cuisine.

The fair-trade tazpresso is a specially created blend in collaboration with GEPA (The Fair Trade Company). Daily changing organic cakes are offered with the tazpresso. Following the success of the tazpresso, taz Pantherbräu is now the second in-house brand. It is brewed in Christoph Flessa’s neighborhood brewery. Both are also available for take-away at the taz-Shop right next door.

By the way: free Wi-Fi surfing is allowed!

The taz canteen is also a venue for political discussions, parties, dissidents, NGOs, climate movements, and artists of all kinds.
