Spending the whole day with a good book in the café – a Sunday at Frankfurter Tor could hardly be cozier.

Café Tasso is both a organically certified café and restaurant and an antiquarian bookstore in Berlin-Friedrichshain with many used books and other media such as magazines and newspapers available for browsing. Café Tasso draws its abundant book selection from its extensive book cellar. All books at Tasso, by the way, cost only 1 Euro! On Sundays, due to the shop closing law, no books may be sold (so on Sundays, it’s café operation only).

Visitors can, for example, enjoy a delicious breakfast with their reading, e.g., with goat cream cheese, hummus, jam, croissants, and Prosecco. All food and drinks are 100 percent organic. In addition to homemade cakes and tarts, salads, quiches, and vegetarian dishes are also offered. Café Tasso is part of the integration company SinneWerk gGmbH, where people with and without disabilities work together in all areas.

The Top10 insider tip: Four times a week, Café Tasso hosts readings, concerts, theater performances, or discussion rounds.
