With 1,125 rooms and around 2,250 beds, the Estrel Berlin on Sonnenallee in Neukölln is Germany's largest hotel. Right next to it, the 176-meter-high Estrel Tower, with 45 floors and Berlin's tallest building, has stood since 2026. Estrel Berlin on Sonnenallee: Germany’s largest hotel
The Estrel Berlin is located at Sonnenallee 225 in Neukölln, a few steps from the Sonnenallee S-Bahn station and directly at the A100 highway exit. The complex is thus outside the classic tourist routes but can be quickly reached via the Ringbahn. Opened on October 14, 1994, it still belongs not to a chain, but to the family of Ekkehard Streletzki. With 1,125 rooms and suites and around 2,250 beds, the Estrel Berlin is Germany’s largest hotel. The complex also includes the Estrel Congress Center with 25,000 square meters and 75 conference rooms, where around 1,800 events take place annually, as well as the Estrel Showtheater, which has been showcasing live entertainment in a converted factory hall since 1997, having staged 8,600 performances in 21 countries so far. The family’s art collection, which has grown over the years, hangs in the atrium, and the hotel has its own jetty on the Neukölln shipping canal.
Estrel Tower: Berlin’s tallest building at 176 meters
Right next door, at Sonnenallee 228, the Estrel Tower has stood since 2026. At 176 meters and 45 floors, it is Berlin’s tallest building and Germany’s tallest hotel. It was designed by the Barkow Leibinger office, which won the competition in 2013, with the topping-out ceremony in March 2025. The tower adds 522 rooms and suites, including 90 long-stay apartments and seven signature suites with floor-to-ceiling windows. Additionally, there are 9,300 square meters of office space on floors three to eleven, 3,800 square meters of event space including a Grand Hall for up to 1,250 guests, and a 1,000-square-meter fitness and wellness area. A tunnel leads over to the hotel, congress center, and show theater. The soft opening is scheduled for December 1, 2026, with the Sky Restaurant and Sky Bar on the 43rd floor to follow in the course of 2027. An event hall for up to 10,000 guests and a public park on the riverbank around the tower are also announced for the coming years. A room in the existing building is available from 158.00 Euros, breakfast costs 25.00 Euros per person.
