C/O Berlin at the Charlottenburg Amerika Haus is the premier address for contemporary photography in the capital. For 25 years, the institution has brought together international positions and emerging talents across more than 2,500 square meters directly at Zoo Station.
Photography at Zoo Station: The Amerika Haus as an Exhibition Venue
C/O Berlin occupies the Amerika Haus in Charlottenburg, directly next to the Zoological Garden, with more than 2,500 square meters of exhibition space. The building itself has history: since World War II, it has been a focal point for cultural dialogue between the USA and Germany. Since 2014, it has been entirely dedicated to photography. Open daily from 11:00 to 20:00, C/O Berlin is one of the most accessible exhibition venues in the city. The regular admission price is 15 Euros, reduced 8 Euros. Children and young people up to 18 years old receive free admission.
C/O Berlin: 25 Years of Contemporary Photography
With over 250 exhibitions by more than 500 artists and the promotion of 250 talents, C/O Berlin continuously brings new impulses to the world of photography. The anniversary year 2025 reflects this in a particularly dense program. Currently, C/O Berlin is showing the group exhibition Close Enough – Perspectives by Women Photographers of Magnum. With this, C/O Berlin presents a comprehensive show of photographic works by twelve women photographers from the renowned agency Magnum Photos, which was first seen in 2022 at the International Center of Photography in New York and is now being shown in the capital in an expanded and conceptually newly adapted form for C/O Berlin’s 25th anniversary.
Proximity as an Artistic Question
Inspired by a famous quote from Magnum co-founder Robert Capa, the exhibition’s title simultaneously questions his own statement. The focus is on exploring proximity between photographer and subject, reflecting not only spatial distance but also trust, complicity, and relationship. Works by Olivia Arthur, Myriam Boulos, Sabiha Çimen, Cristina de Middel, Bieke Depoorter, Carolyn Drake, Nanna Heitmann, Susan Meiselas, Hannah Price, Lúa Ribeira, Alessandra Sanguinetti, and Newsha Tavakolian are on display. The exhibition is curated in such a way that each work can speak its own language without imposing an overarching thematic structure. The works are accompanied by short texts in which the photographers describe their projects from a personal perspective. The exhibition runs until January 28, 2026.
