Where city kids suddenly groom ponies and sniff campfire air: The Groß Briesen Riding and Adventure Farm is located in the Hoher Fläming Nature Park, about an hour southwest of Berlin, and is one of the most beautiful excursion destinations in Brandenburg for families with children.
Riding, Romping, Farm Life: What Awaits Families in Groß Briesen
Surrounded by green horse pastures and idyllic pine forests, in the heart of the Hoher Fläming Nature Park, lies the Groß Briesen Riding and Adventure Farm. What makes this place so special: It’s not about quickly ticking off program items. Instead, the whole family can take their time. The concept is “riding without fear or drill”, and you feel that from the very first moment. The Icelandic horses and ponies are relaxed four-legged friends, with whom even every beginner can confidently go for a ride. Together, the horses are fetched from the pastures, groomed, and saddled before setting off, allowing humans and animals to get to know each other slowly.
But riding is by no means everything. Petting farm animals and an extensive adventure program offer plenty of variety, including excursions, guided hikes, fishing, a disco room, a teepee, barbecue parties, campfires, and night walks. Children also enjoy play facilities, a pool, and lots of space to romp around. We particularly liked that the program truly works for all age groups. The riding program is individually tailored to all age groups and experience levels: Children learn to handle horses playfully, while adults can relax or become active themselves. If desired, you can also organize a children’s birthday party with a coffee table, pony riding, and a campfire.
Prices, Location, and Getting There
A single riding lesson costs 45 Euros for children and adults aged 7 and up, while a full riding holiday week can be booked starting from 745 Euros. Additionally, weekend or weekday packages are offered, including meals, accommodation, and a riding program. Full board includes four freshly prepared meals daily, also vegetarian or vegan. Regarding arrival: The farm is located about 70 km southwest of Berlin on the A2, Wollin exit, and can thus be reached in about an hour. As an excursion destination in Brandenburg, it can easily be planned for a day trip.
