In Berlin-Mitte, directly at the Lustgarten on Museum Island, the Altes Museum invites visitors to a shadow play with the heroines and heroes of antiquity during the Easter holidays. Greek gods, Romans, and Etruscans are not only admired here but are actively brought to life by children and families.

Two weeks of Easter holidays, 50 events for children, families, and teenagers – that’s the promise of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Right in the middle: the Altes Museum on Museum Island.

Easter Holiday Program at the Altes Museum: Heroines and Heroes of Antiquity

At the Altes Museum, children meet the heroes of antiquity and bring them to life on their own shadow play stage. This multi-day workshop is the centerpiece of the Easter holiday program at the Altes Museum. Multi-day workshops allow groups of children and teenagers of the same age to engage more intensively with the exhibitions together. Does that sound like school? Far from it. Once you stand among marble statues and ancient vases and become a character on stage yourself, you forget the time.

Easter Holiday Program at the Altes Museum: Antiquity to Touch

The Altes Museum houses the Collection of Classical Antiquities with a permanent exhibition on the art and culture of the Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans – exactly the right environment for creative encounters with the past. Additionally, families can participate in the popular “Fortuna” format: At the Altes Museum, you embark on a search for Fortuna, the Roman goddess of luck and fate. Through playful exercises, you explore ancient statues and engage with the theme of luck. Equipped with props and cameras, the museum visit becomes a special adventure. The participation fee, including admission, is 15 Euros per family with two people, or 20 Euros for three or more people. Since children under 18 already enjoy free admission, the family adventure remains affordable. The number of participants is limited, so online booking is recommended.
