The Schleusenkrug has been around for more than six decades, set among trees right by the Tiergarten lock on the Landwehr Canal. An old boat on the grounds serves as a climbing frame, so children stay busy while the adults keep their seats.

Schleusenkrug: Adventure Boat at the Tiergarten Lock

The Schleusenkrug has been around for over six decades, and it’s situated in a location that’s hard to beat: right by the Tiergarten lock on the Landwehr Canal, surrounded by trees. For families, this is a great finishing point after a day out, as no one rushes here and children can keep themselves occupied.

The menu features freshly tapped beer, Rixdorfer Fassbrause (keg lemonade), and elderflower spritzers, along with Wiener Schnitzel from Brandenburg pork, a homemade fish soup, salad bowls, and vegan dishes. In winter, ginger tea, apple punch, and chai latte are added, making the Schleusenkrug an option all year round.

Play Corner, Old Boat, and View of the Lock

The premises include a play corner and an old boat that has been converted into an adventure playground. While the children climb there, you can sit on the terrace by the water. When a pleasure boat passes through the lock, you can explain how it all works.

The Zoological Garden is right next door, and the Tiergarten park starts directly behind the house. On weekends, the beer garden fills up early; for larger groups, a reservation is recommended.
