Müşterek Berlin: Meyhane on Wallstraße

Müşterek on Wallstraße, right next to the Märkisches Museum in Mitte, is a Meyhane modeled after those in Istanbul: a tavern where meze, Rakı, and long conversations belong together. White tablecloths, closely set tables, and Saz music define the evening. Among those behind the restaurant are writer Moritz Rinke and Istanbul-based chef Cihan Ilter.

Cold and warm Meze, with Rakı

The meze are homemade and served cold and warm: Babaganoush made from roasted eggplant, Muhammara from peppers and walnuts, or crispy Sigara Böreği. Warm dishes include grilled octopus and Yaprak Ciğer, finely sliced, fried liver. There’s also a large selection of Rakı and Turkish wine. Vegetarian meze are plentiful. As it gets busy quickly in the evenings, it’s worth making a reservation online or by phone.
