“We love sausage” is the credo of Wursterei on Hardenbergplatz in Berlin-Charlottenburg. The Wursterei is a food stall with a special concept at a very particular location: the snack bar with a claim is in walking distance to the Berlin Zoo and the hip Bikinihaus and opposite the Waldorf Astoria. If you walk from Zoo station towards the memory church you will hardly miss it.

The sausage selection is clearly presented. There is Berlin currywurst with or without an intestine, the famous Thuringian rostbratwurst and also a Berlin meat ball. The selection of sauces is amazing. The curry sauce is classic and spicy, four different flavors of curry are offered (mild, hot, spicy and dragon, this last one being extremely spicy). Three different kinds of gourmet-mustard are offered, curry, fig and jalapeno-mustard from the Berlin mustard factory.

The fries with sea salt do not come from the bag, but are freshly made here and served with ketchup, salad-mayo or a homemade spicy cheese-sauce with jalapenos. The drinks menu is not unusual with soft drinks such as coke and beer, but surprisingly champagne like Moet Chandon Brut Imperial or vodka are also offered with the Thuringian rostbratwurst or the currywurst.

The sauces are homemade and the sausage comes fat free from the lava stone grill and tastes full and good. According to the owner artificial flavorings, flavor enhancers and preservatives are not used.
