Mitte
Nithan Thai on Chausseestraße in Mitte is not a typical Thai restaurant. At Nithan Thai, Thai cuisine is paired with oriental influences. The concept of Israeli chef and star chef Shahaf Shabtai is well received in Berlin.
The menu reads unusual at first, the dishes are not divided into starters or desserts but into the five Thai cooking techniques water – evaporation and seawater, inner peace – stone ovens, sunrise – health, golden sun – crunchy and crispy and sound – whisper of the flame. Behind these fine-sounding names are dishes such as Tartar Market – white fish, salmon, kazami, wasabi, coriander-kiwi-mustard-sauce and sesame boutique, golden sum – turkey fish with turmeric, chilli and mushroom agadashi or ajam nea – beef fillet with topping Coconut, cucumber, avocado and kin-ping sauce. If you have any questions, the staff will be happy to help and explain you the dishes. Typical for the dishes are their intense aromas and exotic spices.
The ambiance at Nithan Thai is modern and chic. Dark brick walls meet here on a concrete ceiling and a lot of dark wood. Here and there are a few fashionable industrial decoration elements.
The Nithan Thai is always well visited, despite the high prices. A reservation is therefore recommendable even during the week. As the restaurant also opens at lunchtime, it is not only suitable for special dinners, but also for a business lunch where one can score with the restaurant selection in front of business partners.
