Cookies Cream

Walk through a backyard in Mitte, ring an inconspicuous door, and climb an old staircase, and you'll find yourself in Berlin's most famous vegetarian fine-dining restaurant: Cookies Cream, offering a seasonal menu that elevates vegetables to the level of haute cuisine.
Pioneering Work Since 2007
Cookies Cream was founded in 2007 by Heinz “Cookie” Gindullis – at a time when vegetarian fine dining was simply not a topic in Germany. When Cookies Cream opened, there was no established model for high-end vegetarian gastronomy in Germany. Restaurant culture at this level was built almost exclusively on meat and fish as structural elements. The concept was therefore radical – and it has proven its worth to this day. For many years, it has been one of the most renowned addresses in Berlin’s vegetarian fine-dining scene. In 2025, Cookies Cream was additionally awarded 4F by Feinschmecker. It is remarkable that the kitchen operates under a consciously strict creative restriction. A completely vegetarian kitchen in this price segment is not a diet-conscious offering, but a structural creative commitment.
Cookies Cream: Menu, Atmosphere, and Address
The path to the restaurant is an experience in itself: through the backyard of the Westin Grand Hotel, you reach an inconspicuous door, which you have to ring. After being welcomed at the bar, you climb an old staircase into the lively restaurant, which was once a trendy nightclub. The ambiance is exceptionally stylish – red benches against white concrete walls, plus an open kitchen with a view of the team at work. The menus change seasonally, and the restaurant sources its ingredients predominantly regionally. A vegan version of the current five, six, or seven-course menu is always offered – complemented by a creative wine selection and an alcohol-free pairing option. The sommelier team has curated a selection of European wines that combine sustainability with renowned wineries. If you are looking for an exceptional restaurant for a special occasion in Berlin, you should book early. It is open Tuesdays to Thursdays from 18:30, and Fridays and Saturdays from 17:00.
