On Kantstrasse in Charlottenburg, the Lotus Indian Restaurant demonstrates how far Indian cuisine extends beyond curry clichés: North and South Indian dishes stand side by side, from crispy Masala Dosa to Butter Chicken from the tandoor oven. Additionally, there's a street-facing terrace and two Thali variations, one of which is completely vegan.

Lotus Indian Restaurant: Where North Meets South

On Kantstrasse in Charlottenburg, the Lotus Indian Restaurant consistently goes beyond the usual standard repertoire, serving both major culinary traditions of the subcontinent. The menu features classic North Indian dishes like Butter Chicken, Lamb Madras, or Chicken Tikka from the Tandoor, but also South Indian specialties that are rarely found so well-prepared in Berlin. Dosas, thin crispy rice crepes, along with Idli and Sambar Vada, stand equally alongside the North Indian classics.

The vegetarian and vegan selection is also impressive: Palak Paneer, Dal Makhani, Paneer Masala, or the vegan Thali with Mix Sabji, Dal Tarka, and Aloo Channa Saag show that plant-based Indian cuisine is far more than an afterthought here. Both Thali variations come with basmati rice, salad, and warm Bhatura bread to the table and cost 15.90 Euros.

Clear Spaces, Terrace on Kantstrasse

The ambiance at Lotus is clear and modern. Bright colors, mandalas on the walls, and straightforward furniture create a calm atmosphere without appearing sterile. Outside, there are seats on the terrace facing Kantstrasse, where longer evenings can be pleasantly spent. Practical for spontaneous plans: It is open daily from 12 PM to 11 PM, and tables can be reserved online in advance.
