Café am Neuen See is located on Lichtensteinallee in Großer Tiergarten, under old trees and directly by the Neuer See. Seating is spread across the terrace and the waterfront, with many tables offering direct views of the water. Next door, a classic self-service beer garden operates during good weather, explicitly without reservations. Rowing boats are available at the pier, an hour on the lake costs 14 Euros. For children, there is a sandbox between the trees, allowing adults to relax undisturbed. Despite its central location between Zoologischer Garten and Potsdamer Platz, traffic noise is barely audible.

The establishment has its own breakfast menu, available throughout the morning and even longer on weekends. Later, the kitchen switches to a menu of warm dishes that runs until late evening. Tables in the restaurant area can be booked in advance, but this explicitly does not apply to the beer garden.
