Where Weinbergsweg meets Rosenthaler Platz, the pink-painted house of Süsse Sünde in Mitte offers more than just frozen yogurt: handmade ice cream from regional organic milk, creative sorbets, and a loyal clientele who have made queuing a leisure activity.
Süsse Sünde: Handmade Ice Cream with Integrity
Kathrin and Hans-Jörg Ritter have been operating their ice cream parlor concept since 2011 on Weinbergsweg, in the immediate vicinity of Rosenthaler Platz in Mitte. This makes Süsse Sünde one of Berlin’s longest-standing addresses for frozen yogurt and ice cream. The ice cream manufacturer consistently relies on regional organic products for production. The ice cream is made from regional organic milk from pasture-raised cows. Additionally, the duo has opened a second Berlin location in Friedrichshain and offers an ice cream cart for rent.
Sustainability is important to the team: Electricity from renewable energies is used in ice cream production and all ice cream parlors, plastic and plastic coatings are avoided in ice cream sales, and all packaging materials are reusable containers or made from renewable raw materials.
Frozen Yogurt, Sorbets, and Creative Varieties to Marvel At
In addition to classic dairy ice cream, the ice cream parlor also offers many vegan and thus lactose-free varieties. Since 2013, Weinbergsweg has offered explicitly vegan ice cream, including up to five types of sorbet with refined combinations like peach-lavender. So, anyone looking for frozen yogurt in Berlin will find everything they need here. There are also original ice cream flavors like semolina pudding with rhubarb sauce, pear with walnuts, and cream caramel, and occasionally flavors like elderflower-lavender or chocolate-chili-sour cherry.
Matching its logo, the facade of the small shop is painted pink. The ice cream enjoyment at Süsse Sünde can be enhanced with brownie pieces, homemade compote, marshmallows, and many other toppings. Right next door is a beautiful park, allowing the ice cream to be enjoyed in a cozy atmosphere. Regular long queues speak for themselves and are a clear indication that the Ritters master their craft.
