In Wilmersdorf, away from the major tourist crowds, a listed Gründerzeit building has borne the name of its creator for over 130 years: The Bieberbau combines creative German cuisine with a Michelin star and an unparalleled stucco interior.

Restaurant Bieberbau: Upscale Dining in Historic Rooms

Whoever enters Restaurant Bieberbau at Durlacher Straße 15 immediately steps into another era. The first impression is of the magnificent stucco decor, as the sculptor and stucco artist Richard Bieber once used these rooms as an exhibition space for his art. The restored dining room has been a protected monument since 1986. Nevertheless, the ambiance does not feel at all museum-like, but remarkably lively.

Restaurant Bieberbau shines with excellently composed menu variations and has held a Michelin star since 2015. The Bieberbau is also listed in the MICHELIN Guide Germany 2025 as a one-star restaurant for exceptionally high culinary art. This makes it a top address for upscale gastronomy in Berlin.

Seasonal Cuisine with its Own Herb Garden

The menu is seasonal and changes monthly. Guests can choose between three menus, including a vegetarian option, with three to five courses. Head chef and owner Stephan Garkisch focuses on regional products such as Fläming wild boar, Szczecin Lagoon pike-perch, or Linum pasture veal. Furthermore, its own herb garden provides a special twist: herbs from the in-house garden in Barnim Nature Park give the dishes their unique flavor. Specially cultivated varieties like bronze fennel, Damask cumin, or wasabi arugula are incorporated into the dishes as leaves, flowers, and seeds.

Regarding pricing, the Bieberbau is a pleasant surprise: a 3-course menu is available from 93.50 Euros, with each additional course costing 12 Euros. For the offered level of upscale gastronomy in Berlin, this is more than fair.
