On the former Tempelhof marshalling yard, where the last train rolled in 1952, birches now grow between the tracks. The steam locomotive 50 3707, the water tower from 1927, and a 600-meter-long steel walkway provide strong motifs in Natur-Park Schöneberger Südgelände. Ostkreuz S-Bahn station is one of Berlin's most unusual photo spots: here, the Ringbahn crosses the City and Ostbahn tracks on its own hall made of glass and steel. Additionally, there's the listed water tower from 1912 with violet glazed bricks. The station is freely accessible, but tripods are not allowed there.
The Futurium near the Central Station is one of Berlin's photo spots that works with light: Over 8,000 cassette elements made of metal reflectors and printed cast glass make the facade look different with every position of the sun. The Skywalk on the roof is publicly accessible, and admission is free. Tripods, selfie sticks, and flashes must be left outside.
Choriner Straße is one of Berlin's pure Gründerzeit photo spots: Ten apartment buildings are listed as historical monuments, the oldest dating from 1864, and the enclosed block-edge development creates long vistas with stucco facades and archways. Two monument ensembles extend into this area. Photography is done from the sidewalk; courtyards and stairwells are private.
The ICC is the largest among Berlin's photo spots: approximately 313 meters long, almost 40 meters high, with a silver-gray aluminum facade, a protected monument since 2019, and closed since 2014. Interior viewings are only possible during rare special openings. From the outside on Messedamm, the main work of high-tech architecture can be photographed at any time.
The Gasometer Berlin Schöneberg combines two Berlin photo spots in one: the green steel framework from 1910, 78 meters high and a listed building, and the round glass building that has been inside it since 2024. The rooftop terrace at 66 meters offers a 360-degree view of the city, but it is only accessible as part of a guided tour.
The Le Corbusier House on Flatowallee is one of Berlin's photo spots for architecture fans: 17 stories, around 55 meters high, exposed concrete on stilts, brightly colored loggias, and internal streets without daylight. It is Le Corbusier's only building in Berlin. Exterior shots are free, but inside, residents' house rules apply.
Pankow-Niederschönhausen Palace Park is one of Berlin's green photo spots: 30 hectares of landscaped park by Peter Joseph Lenné along the Panke, plus a walled garden from the 1950s with a tea house, rose garden, and a six-meter-high fountain. Admission is free, tripods are allowed, but drones are prohibited. A bridge in the middle of the park is currently closed.
The Schützenstraße Quarter is one of Berlin's most colorful photo spots: Aldo Rossi divided the block into parcels with their own facades and roof shapes, and the colors follow the respective material. At number 8 stands a replica of the courtyard facade of the Palazzo Farnese. Four streets offer four different views.
Strausberger Platz is one of Berlin's photo spots with the clearest visual axis: two high-rises, each with 14 floors, conclude the 90-meter-wide stretch of Karl-Marx-Allee, surrounded by 1950s 'wedding cake style' architecture. The square is a garden monument. The Floating Ring water feature is currently dismantled. Redesign is planned for 2027 to 2029.
The Grunewald Tower is one of Berlin's photo spots with the widest view: 55 meters of Brandenburg Brick Gothic from 1899 on Karlsberg, 202 steps to the platform, and from there a view over the Havel to Potsdam and Spandau. Inside there is a memorial hall with a ceiling mosaic. The ascent costs 5 Euros. At the foot of the tower, there is a restaurant with a terrace.
