In the fourth courtyard of the Hackesche Höfe, Perlin sells trade beads, stone, glass, and silver beads for DIY stringing. Additionally, there is ready-made jewelry crafted from old beads, reassembled by designer Birgit Laun.
Perlin in the Hackesche Höfe: Beads for DIY Stringing
Perlin is located in Courtyard IV of the Hackesche Höfe on Rosenthaler Straße and has been one of the shops there for over two decades. The assortment primarily consists of beads: old trade beads, stone beads, glass beads, silver and brass beads. In addition, there are clasps, spacers, and other accessories that allow you to design your own necklaces, bracelets, or earrings. A self-strung piece of jewelry is a unique gift.
Perlin: Old Beads Restrung
In addition to DIY materials, Perlin sells finished jewelry. Designer Birgit Laun combines historical trade beads with precious metal beads for this, her motto being “Old beads restrung”. Upon request, she accommodates individual ideas and creates pieces according to customers’ wishes. The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM; appointments outside these hours are possible by arrangement. Around the courtyards, there are many small shops, cafés, a cinema, and a theater, so a visit fits well into an afternoon in Mitte.
