Tee Tea Thé Stammhaus: Tea Culture in Goltzstraße
At Goltzstraße 2 in Schöneberg, the Stammhaus combines a tea shop and café into a place where both are taken seriously. It is run by Detlev Lüke, and since the change of ownership in November 2019, the salon has reopened, furnished in the style of a Viennese coffee house, including newspapers and permission to stay for a long time. The house is an official Ronnefeldt brand partner and accordingly carries the entire range of the manufacturer, supplemented by Japanese teas from Teehaus Marimo, its own brand, and Kusmi.
Over 350 loose varieties are available, some of them from certified organic cultivation. In addition to black, green, and white tea, Oolong, herbs, Rooibos, fruits, and Chai, there are teabag lines and tea capsules. The tableware includes Dunoon, TeaLogic, Goebel, and Eigenart, plus filters and tea caddies. The name Stammhaus, by the way, refers to the main branch of the Berlin company, not to the Frankfurt main house of the Ronnefeldt brand.
Scones, High Tea and an hourglass for brewing time
Culinarily, it’s British: homemade scones with clotted cream and homemade jam, High Tea with sandwiches, pastries and scones on a silver etagere, plus cakes, tarts, quiche and a breakfast menu. Those who prefer something more unusual can order Lebanese cinnamon tea, Taman tea, or Shinan tea.
A detail that sticks: Upon request, each guest receives an hourglass for the correct brewing time, and colorful teapots are available for selection. It is open daily from 10 AM to 7 PM, making the Stammhaus one of the few tea shops in the city that are also open on Sundays. Reservations are recommended for Afternoon Tea.
