TEE-O-D’OR: Tea specialist at Klausenerplatz for over 35 years

In Danckelmannkiez, Snjezana Mustapic runs a business that takes the term “specialist trade” literally. For over 35 years, TEE-O-D’OR has supplied hotels, restaurants, and delicatessens both domestically and internationally; the store at Klausenerplatz is its main branch. Here, no one simply pushes a bag across the counter: for every tea, there is a suitable preparation recommendation, and even with sugar, distinctions are made. Brown rock sugar with its caramel note pairs well with Assam and Ceylon, while white sugar is for light teas.

For black tea, the focus is on Assam and Darjeeling from the organically managed Sungma plantation, along with seasonal rarities like a Steinthal Darjeeling First Flush. The green tea section includes over 60 varieties depending on the season, including Japanese Sencha Gyokuro, Kabuse Hojicha, and several organic Matcha. A special feature is a Thai green tea that smells of white grapes and has no bitter notes whatsoever.

Pots from the MoMA collection and custom blends

For accessories, the store relies on MONO teapots, whose design has made it into the Museum of Modern Art’s collection, completely dishwasher-safe and with a generous sieve. In addition, there are stainless steel pot and cup filters, unbleached paper filters with a bottom fold, and tea caddies in various sizes.

For gastronomy and trade, TEE-O-D’OR creates personalized house blends, packages them custom, and advises on tea menus, preparation, and service. You cannot sit and sample here, but you will leave with significantly more knowledge than you arrived with.
