The SEVEN Community Record Store on Torstraße is a record shop run by DJs for DJs: the focus is on house and techno on vinyl, from deep house to dub techno, along with its own labels and crates from Dekmantel to Kompakt. Four Technics listening stations are set up for a listen before buying. Among the record stores in Berlin, this is the address for club music in Mitte.
SEVEN Community Record Store: House and Techno in Berlin-Mitte
The SEVEN Community Record Store sits at Torstraße 220 in Berlin-Mitte, about a ten minute walk from Rosenthaler Platz. Behind the shop floor are the office, the photo studio, the warehouse and the in-house merch production, which brings store and label together at one address. The shop is run by DJs, and that shapes the selection. The focus is on house and techno on vinyl, from deep house to dub techno and tech house through to minimal and progressive house, rounded off by a small selection of ambient and world music. Labels such as Dekmantel, Kompakt, Kalahari Oyster Cult, Berg Audio and Partisan have crates of their own, alongside the in-house labels SEVEN, A.2AUM and PRNCPTL. New releases take centre stage, while the second hand section stays deliberately small and sorts its records at 3 and 5 euros.
Listening Stations, DJ Gear and Shipping at the SEVEN Community Record Store
Four seated listening stations are ready in the shop, equipped with Technics SL-1200 Mk7 turntables, Ortofon cartridges and Sennheiser headphones. Two of them run on Graham Slee Audio pre-amps, two more stand by the window. There is also a cassette station and a CD station, free hot drinks and soft drinks and a changing room. Anyone who stands behind the decks can pick up the gear here as well: Ortofon cartridges, headphones from Sennheiser and AIAIAI, USB sticks, network hubs for CDJs and more than a hundred cables and adapters. Around fifty books and the collection of shirts, caps and hoodies, partly produced on site, complete the range. Anyone who cannot come by orders online: the shop ships to 49 countries and offers same day collection.
