Atelier Kirkara on Jonasstraße in Neukölln has been teaching goldsmithing since 2007, led by Kirsten Karacan, in groups of no more than four people. A three-hour workshop costs 95 Euros plus material, the four-hour version 125 Euros, and printable vouchers are available for both. At the end, each participant takes home a self-made silver piece.

A Goldsmith Workshop on Jonasstraße in Neukölln

Jonasstraße is located in southern Neukölln, towards Britz, in a purely residential area without a row of shops, and Atelier Kirkara operates at house number 33. Connectivity is straightforward, as the U8 subway stations Leinestraße and Boddinstraße are nearby, as is the S-Bahn and U-Bahn station Hermannstraße. Those coming by car will find it easier here than in the inner districts, as there is no paid parking management and street parking usually works. The workshop is run by Kirsten Karacan, who has been teaching since 2007 and came to teaching through mineral trading and goldsmithing. She is also a certified MBSR teacher, which gives the courses their unique tone: it’s about sawing, filing, soldering, and polishing, but equally about concentration and calm. The workshop space is well-equipped and warmly furnished, visited by appointment. There is no shop front with a display window here, so visits are always by arrangement.

Forge your own silver jewelry and printable vouchers

The gift at Atelier Kirkara is the course, and it’s available in two lengths. The three-hour workshop costs 95 Euros plus material and results in a silver ring with your own surface, a pendant, or a pair of earrings. The four-hour version costs 125 Euros plus material and allows for more substantial rings, engravings, or wire elements. If you want to give more, opt for the four-session pass, which is valid for half a year. Additionally, there’s a shorter format that combines mindfulness and goldsmithing, suitable for beginners without any prior knowledge. Work is done in groups of no more than four people, and at the end, each participant goes home with a self-made piece. Vouchers are available for both workshop lengths and can be printed directly from the studio’s website, saving last-minute gifts. The workshop also hosts bachelorette parties and corporate outings, and classes are also taught in English. If you’re planning a more elaborate piece, it’s best to discuss the material beforehand, as it is calculated separately.
