In Charlottenburg, where Prussian history still whispers through the walls, the Great Orangery of Charlottenburg Palace offers classical concerts in a royal setting. Baroque music by candlelight, musicians in historical costumes, and an opulent ambiance make the evening truly special.

Classical Music Meets Royal Splendor: Concerts in the Orangery at Charlottenburg Palace

Those who wish to experience classical music in Berlin will find one of the city’s most atmospheric concert halls in the Orangery at Charlottenburg Palace. Charlottenburg Palace, as Prussia’s first court of muses during the time of Frederick the Great, was a place of magnificent performances. The overall artistic claim of the Berlin Residence Concerts derives from this very tradition. So, whoever takes a seat here is literally sitting in history.

By festive candlelight, guests are transported back to the courtly world of the Prussian kings by an ensemble dressed in authentic costumes, performing masterpieces of baroque and classical music. The program is broadly diversified: The musical selection focuses on classical masterpieces of the 17th and 18th centuries. The Berlin Residence Orchestra and its soloists perform compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Joseph Haydn. The Residence Concerts also perform works by Frederick the Great.

Opera Evenings, Special Concerts, and a Menu to Accompany

In addition to the regular concert evenings, the Orangery offers a versatile special program. Special afternoon concerts take place at Easter and Pentecost, as well as on the Advent Sundays. Each begins at 15:00. In the baroque Orangery Café, there is an opportunity beforehand to enjoy coffee and cake in a historical ambiance. Furthermore, thematic evenings such as the Italian Opera Night entice, where baritone and pianist present the most beautiful arias in Italian and transport the audience into the works of Verdi, Rossini, and Mozart.

For those who wish to complete their evening: A festive Orangery menu can also be booked before the concert visit. Thus, culinary delight combines with classical music under baroque ceilings. Events are regularly sold out, which is why tickets should be booked early. Tickets are available online in the webshop, by phone, or, if still available, at the box office and in the Museum Shop of the Old Palace.
