The Komische Oper on Behrenstraße in Mitte is the smallest of Berlin's three opera houses and, like the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, belongs to the "Stiftung Oper in Berlin" (Opera Foundation in Berlin).

In the 1920s, it was a pioneering operetta and revue theater. Today, the Komische Oper Berlin is dedicated to vibrant, contemporary musical theater.
