YAAM at Schillingbrücke is Berlin's most famous open-air club with a Caribbean-African character, a sandy area directly on the Spree, and a program ranging from Reggae to Afrobeats.

YAAM: more than an Open Air Club

YAAM, short for Young African Art Market, is an independent socio-cultural project that has existed in Berlin since 1994 and has had its permanent location at Schillingbrücke since 2014. This makes it one of the city’s oldest and most enduring open-air venues and remains a platform for underground music, street art, and alternative art forms to this day.

The approximately 8,000 square meter site features a food market with African and Caribbean cuisine, a sports field, a children’s playground, as well as several bars and dancefloors. Sand lies along the Spree, and on warm days, people sit by the water until the evening.

Music, Sports, and Community Work

Musically, it’s as diverse as the venue itself. Bass music and sound system parties take place regularly, while on other evenings, acts from Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, Afrobeat, and Dub perform. International guests have been part of the program for years.

YAAM is far more than just a party location. The public sports facility is open for basketball and volleyball, and there are also graffiti workshops, as well as yoga and capoeira classes. The visit remains affordable, costing about 10 to 20 Euros per person, and arrival is convenient via Ostbahnhof.
