In Tom Tykwer's "Run Lola Run," Franka Potente, with fiery red hair, pants her way through the arches of the Oberbaum Bridge.
In a fast rhythm, matching the music, she runs through the city to save her friend’s life. However, the Oberbaum Bridge is not only a striking feature in “Run Lola Run” from 1998. With its two turrets and the yellow U1 train, it is a typical cityscape and part of the standard repertoire of many Berlin films and TV series.
By the way, since the administrative district reform in 2001, the red brick bridge connects the two districts of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. Since then, residents of the two districts have been staging cinematic battles with water, flour, and old vegetables every July.
Top10 Editorial Tip: For many night owls, the Warschauer Straße S-Bahn and train station is the starting point for a long party night. From there, cross the Oberbaum Bridge to either Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg to celebrate.
