The museum of the allied forces is a historic place and an exhibition space at the same time. On the area of the museum you will find the listed former “Outpost Theatre” cinema, in its day the most modern movie theatre for the US armed forces in Europe.

Today, the former cinema is home to the first part of the permanent exhibition shining its light on the years 1945 -1950 with the central piece of it being the Berlin Air Lift.

Original exhibits in the outside area of the museum include an original Hastings TG 503 – a British plane used in the air lift – a dining wagon of the French military train, the last sentry post of Checkpoint Charlie and original concrete segments of the Berlin Wall.

The second part of the permanent exhibition in the Nicholaon Memorial Library deals with the time between 1951 – 1994, telling the story from the cold war to German unification and the western allies leaving Berlin.

Good to know: Admission to the museum is free of charge, also the regular guided tours for adults and children do not cost anything. Further group tours and even birthday parties for children are available on request.
