Comcha - Veganes Vietnamesisches Restaurant

Comcha on Dresdener Straße is a family-run business serving entirely vegan North Vietnamese cuisine. The name comes from a recipe developed by the father, and every dish on the menu is said to be a variation of it. A Pho Chay costs 11.50 Euros, the Lau Chay hotpot is 18 Euros per person. All dishes are marked with allergens from A to G.
Vietnamese Cuisine from Hanoi on Dresdener Straße
Dresdener Straße is located between Kottbusser Tor and Oranienplatz, and at number 15, Comcha has set up shop in the building complex of a construction glaziery, which gives the place an unpretentious workshop atmosphere. The cuisine is North Vietnamese, as known from Hanoi, and entirely plant-based. The establishment describes itself as one hundred percent vegan Vietnamese cuisine in Berlin-Kreuzberg and consistently works with tofu, seitan, and meat alternatives. A family is behind the business, and the name explains the concept: the restaurant is named after a recipe developed by the father, and every dish on the menu is said to be a variation of this exact recipe. Connectivity is excellent, as the Kottbusser Tor subway station (U1, U3, and U8) is just over two hundred meters away. Parking, however, is hopeless, as there is comprehensive parking management around Kottbusser Tor. There are outdoor seats, and dogs are explicitly welcome inside, which is surprisingly rare in Kreuzberg.
An Extensive Menu with Soups, Tapas, and a Hotpot
The menu at Comcha is surprisingly extensive for an establishment of its size and is divided into clear sections. Among the soups are the classic Pho Chay for 11.50 Euros, alongside a sour variation and a Wonton soup. The largest section consists of Asian tapas with summer rolls in four variations, steamed and baked dumplings, Bánh Xèo as a crispy pancake, seaweed salad, edamame, and pickled kimchi. Main courses range from fried rice noodles to curries and seitan variations like Vit Chay, which replicates crispy duck. The most elaborate dish is the Lau Chay hotpot, served only for two people or more and costing 18 Euros per person. Additionally, there are homemade drinks, their own house tea, and Vietnamese coffee, served hot or iced. Convenient for those with intolerances: Each dish is labeled with letters from A to G, indicating sesame, soy, peanuts, gluten, mushrooms, seitan, and celery. Reservations can be made by phone or through the booking system on their website, which is highly recommended given the size of the restaurant in the evenings.
