On the northern shore of Schlachtensee in Zehlendorf lies one of Berlin's oldest excursion restaurants, founded in 1723, with a direct view of the water and a cuisine that combines Alpine classics, Berlin specialties, and fresh fish.

Fischerhütte am Schlachtensee: History Meets Lakeside

The historic guesthouse was founded in 1723 and is picturesquely situated directly on the shores of the wooded Schlachtensee. This makes it one of Berlin’s oldest restaurants. In May 2003, Josef Laggner took over the project, under whose direction the Fischerhütte, after extensive renovations, once again became one of Berlin’s most popular excursion destinations. Much has happened since then, but the charm has remained. Today, the ensemble consists of several areas: the listed “Alte Fischerhütte” with a wine shop, winter garden, bar, and lounge, the Wirtshaus with a large sun terrace, and the spacious beer garden directly by the lake. This way, everyone finds their place, whether for a toast, lingering, or enjoying.

Cuisine, Menu, and Water View

On the plates, in addition to Alpine and Berlin specialties, there is, of course, fresh fish, as has always been on the Fischerhütte’s menus. Furthermore, the Sauerbraten à la Fischerhütte with red cabbage, buttered pointed cabbage, and homemade mashed potatoes was even awarded 1st prize in the German Sauerbraten Competition. Those who want to eat seasonally are also in good hands: From the end of March to June, asparagus from the Beelitz and Kremmen asparagus farmers is brought fresh daily from the field directly to the plate. In addition, there is fine traditional cuisine, the best Augustiner beer fresh from the tap, and selected wines from the Lutter & Wegner wine list. Sitting here, one looks directly at the water and forgets for a moment that the big city is only a few S-Bahn stations away. This is exactly what makes this chic restaurant by the water so special.
