Hot Pot Soup on Friesenstraße: eight soups from their own kitchen

The shop at Friesenstraße 6 in Bergmannkiez belongs to the Berlin company “Catering aus Leidenschaft” (Catering with Passion) and evolved from its soup production. The founder initially cooked fresh soups for a small shop in Friedrichshain before opening his own soup shop here; the pot has been in Kreuzberg for about twelve years now. Up to eight different soups come from their own kitchen, and the selection changes constantly. Cooking is done without artificial flavor enhancers and without preservatives, using fresh ingredients. The shop is deliberately kept small and thrives on the lunchtime business from the area.

Potato Soup, Goulash Soup, and a Loyalty Card

Prices remain clear: Potato soup, red lentils with coconut, and broccoli-carrot curry each cost 6.80 Euros, while heartier varieties like Chili con Carne, pork goulash soup, Minestrone Provencial, or Mulligatawny are 7.80 Euros. Hot dogs are also available if soup alone isn’t enough. Regulars collect stamps on a bonus card: after five stamps, you get a free drink or soup, which ultimately saves about a fifth. It’s important to know that only cash payment is accepted here. The interior is kept simple, with graphics by an in-house artist hanging on the walls, and when temperatures are warm, soup can also be enjoyed outdoors.
