Röststätte Berlin: From Green Coffee to the Perfect Cup

What started as a machine shop in 2003 grew into something much bigger: Since 2011, Röststätte at Ackerstraße 173 in Berlin-Mitte has united a roastery, café, coffee machine trade, and Barista Academy under one roof. The business is still run by its founders, Ivo and Yvonne Weller. This makes Röststätte far more than just a café for coffee lovers; it is an institution of Berlin’s third-wave scene.

Espresso from Finca El Paraiso, double fermented with cold shock technology, or Cerro San Luis from Costa Rica honey anaerobic – Röststätte relies on ultra-modern maturation processes and the most carefully selected microlots. Only 100% Arabica specialty coffees are roasted, gently by hand in a CO2-saving Loring roaster. This allows the natural aromas to fully develop without the formation of unwanted acids.

Specialty Coffee, Barista Courses, and More

Visitors rave about the selection: Espresso, batch brew, and pour-over are served in an inviting, uncomplicated atmosphere with ample seating. There is also a selection of coffee cocktails, such as an Espresso Martini. Those who want to take fresh beans home will also find what they’re looking for. The main location on Ackerstraße also houses Berlin’s largest shop for coffee accessories.

Röststätte pays farmers fair prices well above world market levels and pursues sustainable partnerships with its “From Source To The Final Cup” approach, benefiting all involved. For those who want to delve deeper into the world of coffee, the in-house Barista Academy is highly recommended. Courses offered include Barista Basic, Barista Compact, Latte Art, as well as Roasting and Cupping. This way, your next filter coffee at home can be prepared at a completely different level.
