A spoonful of honey is an effective home remedy for coughs. Kaiserhonig, featuring the licking bear, is produced in Berlin and also makes a nice souvenir.

According to a study by the Penn State College of Medicine, honey is more effective against irritating coughs than chemical cough syrup. Add anti-inflammatory and internally warming ginger and vitamin C-rich limes, and the perfect anti-cold remedy is born. This exact combination can be found in the “Lime-Ginger-Honey,” which Kris Kaiser produces in a small manufactory in Berlin.

He sells this and other delicious honey varieties such as “Mint & Almond Honey” or “Raisin & Rosemary in Honey” on Saturdays at his manufactory, Tuesdays and Fridays at the weekly market at Maybachufer, and Sundays at the Mauerpark Flea Market, as well as around the clock in his online shop. In addition, some varieties can be found in the Kochhaus branches and at Schwesterherz.

A real highlight for sweet tooths are the spreads that combine milk and honey, e.g., in the “Chai Latte Milk Cream,” in the “Caramel Crème Brulée” variety, or “Coconut with White Choc.” These are tastier and lower in calories than Nutella & Co. And a healthy lifestyle is the best prevention against diseases!
