In the Fennpfuhl district of green Lichtenberg stands one of Berlin's solid indoor swimming pools, which has been serving its neighborhood for decades with 25-meter lanes, a paddling pool, and a sauna. The Anton-Saefkow-Platz swimming hall is not a show pool, but a genuine Berlin swimming pool for everyone who simply wants to get in the water.

What awaits me at the Anton-Saefkow-Platz swimming hall?

The Anton-Saefkow-Platz swimming hall was opened in 1981 as part of the then-new residential area of Fennpfuhl. Since then, it has become an indispensable part of the Lichtenberg district. Like other typical public swimming halls of the 1980s, it offers a swimmer’s pool with five 25-meter lanes, a non-swimmer’s pool, and a dry sauna with a relaxation room. Those who swim laps here know: The non-swimmer’s pool even has a slide for children, and the water has a pleasant temperature of 28 degrees.

Furthermore, the facilities are well thought out. In addition to the actual swimming facilities, the swimming hall also includes fitness rooms, a kiosk, changing rooms, and sanitary facilities. The indoor pool is also barrier-free. The pool is equipped for people with disabilities, with appropriate changing rooms, showers, and toilets.

Who benefits from a visit to the Berlin swimming pool in Lichtenberg?

The sports offerings include swimming lessons for children and aqua fitness courses. Thus, the Anton-Saefkow-Platz swimming hall caters to almost everyone: experienced competitive swimmers who want to do their laps early in the morning, families with children, and anyone who appreciates aqua fitness as a low-threshold entry into training. Public swimming usually takes place parallel to school and club swimming, but on Sundays, the entire pool is available for public swimming. In addition, the accessibility is very practical: The pool is easily reachable by public transport, about a 15-minute walk from S-Bahn station Storkower Straße or only about 5 minutes from the tram stops Landsberger Allee/Weißenseer Weg and Judith-Auer-Straße. Those who prefer to come by car will also be pleased: there are plenty of parking spaces directly in front of the indoor pool. For bargain hunters, the subscription offer from Berliner Bäderbetriebe is also worthwhile: frequent swimmers benefit from favorable prices starting from 23 euros per month.
