Merino wool, alpaca, silk, and cashmere are more common here than polyester. This reduces the selection but significantly increases the hit rate.

Women’s and men’s fashion, from timeless basics to unique individual pieces, is spread across two large, bright rooms. Brands like Armedangels, Boss, Marc O Polo, Max Mara Weekend, or Polo Ralph Lauren usually cost one third of their original price here. Wedding dresses, tuxedos, and suits are a permanent part of the collection for special occasions.

Costumes, Consignment, and Honest Advice at Gewandhaus

A special feature is the collection: Gewandhaus purchases costumes from film productions and rents them out to costume designers, filmmakers, stylists, and stage personnel. As a result, pieces that were never available in normal retail regularly hang among the everyday items.

You can consign your own clothing. And the owner will also tell you if a piece doesn’t suit you – which is rarer in retail than one might think. It is open Mondays from 14 to 18, Tuesdays to Fridays from 12 to 18, and Saturdays from 12 to 16.
