Bierbaum 2

Neukölln

The pub on Sonnenallee belongs to a small Neukölln family of three Bierbaum venues and runs without a closing hour. Inside there is a jukebox, a pool table, an electronic dartboard and slot machines, plus a smoking corner, Prosecco for four euros and phone charging for one euro per half hour. Schultheiss is served straight from the keg.

Sonnenallee, Number 86

Bierbaum 2 is located at Sonnenallee 86 in Neukölln, in the section between Reuterkiez and Hermannplatz, which has changed more in recent years than almost any other street in the city. U-Bahnhof Rathaus Neukölln and Ringbahnhof Sonnenallee are both within walking distance; the Landwehrkanal is to the north, Tempelhofer Feld to the west. The windows face directly onto Sonnenallee, and if it gets too stuffy inside, the windows are thrown open. Bierbaum 2 belongs to a small family of three venues of the same name in Neukölln; the first is quieter and cleaner near Körnerpark. Parking spaces are scarce on Sonnenallee; most guests arrive on foot or alight at the Ring. Sonnenallee runs straight southeast here, lined with Spätis (late-night shops), snack bars, and bakeries, many of which operate late into the night. Hermannplatz with its department stores is a good ten-minute walk away; in the other direction, Reuterkiez with its bars begins.

Jukebox, Billiards, and No Closing Time

Inside, Bierbaum 2 is a pub with everything that entails: a jukebox, a pool table, an electronic dartboard, slot machines, and high tables. A smoking area is included, as are house rules hanging on the wall. Schultheiss is served on tap, with fifty-liter barrels, alongside bottled beers. A sign above the bar offers Prosecco for four euros, and if you arrive with a dead battery, you can charge your phone for one euro per half hour. Futschi, the Berlin mix of brandy and cola, is also on the menu. The place operates without closing hours, which shifts its busiest times: the early morning hours are much busier than the afternoon, as everyone comes here when other places close. Regulars treat the place like a second living room. The pub can be reached by phone at 030 62738055. If you prefer it quieter, come in the afternoon when there’s still space at the high tables. The house rules on the wall are short and clear, and the staff ensures they are followed. This ensures that the place remains stable even during the busiest hours.
