Silvia Fauck opened her first practice for psychological counseling in Hamburg in 2001 and has been working in Berlin since 2006. She is a psychological counselor, coach, mediator, and author. Over the years, her work has focused on one topic because about ninety percent of the people who come to her do so because of relationship problems, and most of them due to heartache.

This has grown into more than just a single practice. Since 2012, she has been collaborating with Professor Günter H. Seidler, who headed the Section of Psychotraumatology at the Center for Psychosocial Medicine at Heidelberg University. Her concept is now offered by licensed partners at over fifty locations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Berlin has remained the starting point.

What Happens in Counseling and How It Is Organized

The services range from individual sessions to couples counseling and telephone coaching, where you don’t even have to enter the practice. Besides heartache, she addresses grief, the loss of a partner, living with a sick partner, bullying, and exhaustion. Her books include “Mid-Love-Crisis,” which deals with long-term relationships. Organizationally, everything is straightforward yet binding. Counseling sessions are paid in advance, and coaching blocks are due at the first appointment and are non-transferable. Appointments can be canceled free of charge up to forty-eight hours beforehand; after that, they will be charged. A fee schedule is sent upon request. Weekend appointments are possible by arrangement, which helps if you don’t want to fit counseling into your lunch break.
