Alone

8 Locations

Doing things alone is easy in Berlin, a city where solo visits to a cafe, cinema or gallery raise no eyebrows. Time alone can be a quiet coffee with a book, a long walk or a meal at the counter, and the city has plenty of spots that welcome one. This tag collects Berlin locations that work well when you are on your own.

Counter seats at ramen bars and bakeries make eating alone comfortable, while museums on Museum Island and parks like Tempelhofer Feld invite unhurried afternoons. Libraries, saunas and swimming pools add calm, structured ways to spend a few hours. Many cafes in Neukoelln and Prenzlauer Berg are built for lingering with a laptop or a notebook.

Browse the venues below to plan time alone, at whatever pace and mood suits you.

IL KINO on Nansenstraße in Neukölln opened in 2014 in a vacant bakery and was Berlin's first new independent cinema in twenty-nine years. It shows international arthouse cinema in original versions, and you can bring wine and Italian food into the auditorium. For heartbreak, remember: Crying looks completely normal in the dark.
