Ring the bell at an unassuming door near Volkspark Friedrichshain and you'll find yourself in a magical speakeasy that Tim Burton himself couldn't have dreamed up better. The Fairytale Bar at Volkspark Friedrichshain transforms cocktail evenings into adventures for adults, somewhere between Alice in Wonderland and Grimm's dark fairy tales.

Ring, enter, marvel: The Fairytale Bar at Volkspark Friedrichshain

Dark figures, made up and costumed, open the door at the sound of the bell, and numerous relics from „Alice in Wonderland” and other fairy tales greet guests in display cases, on walls, everywhere. The concept is consistently implemented: inspired by the nearby Volkspark Friedrichshain’s Märchenbrunnen (Fairy Tale Fountain), the overall concept of the Fairytale Bar is geared towards wondrous stories and fairy tales for adults. This has nothing to do with the usual cocktail bar routine. Bar expert Mike Meinke, together with the owners, has realized an imaginative bar concept, for which Tim Burton served as inspiration.

Cocktails with fairy tale names and real character

The drinks menu also follows the fairy tale theme with remarkable consistency. The names of the drinks all have a fairy tale connection, such as „Snow White and Rose Red”, „Cheshire Cat”, „Princess Frost” or „The Frog King”. Champagne drinks are served in a glass slipper. The Fairytale Bar is thus one of the few truly special bars in Berlin, where even the drinks menu is part of the show. The bar seats 40, is a non-smoking bar and is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 20:00 to 02:30. Reservations are recommended; on weekends, they are almost mandatory.
