Klunkerkranich: Rooftop Bar with Character

Since 2013, the cultural rooftop garden Klunkerkranich has been at home on the top parking deck of the Neukölln Arcaden and has established itself as a venue for club and subculture. The journey there is part of the experience: whoever finds the elevator to the right floor has already won. Once at the top, a world of wooden planks, plant boxes, and fairy lights opens up. Upcycled decor, the Berlin skyline all around – and the feeling of spontaneous freedom make Klunkerkranich one of the most famous rooftop terraces in the city. Located in southeastern Berlin, the panoramic view of the center highlights the TV Tower at Alexanderplatz. Especially during the Golden Hour, the view is simply breathtaking.

1,000 square meters of wood are installed on the parking deck, and a rooftop garden has been created where wormwood, thyme, and oregano grow – herbs that end up directly in the cocktails. During the day, there is coffee and fresh juices; in the evening, the mood changes. The bar serves ice-cold beers and cocktails, and the canteen “Zum Fetten Finken” offers breakfast, lunch, and a changing dinner menu.

More than just a Bar with a Panoramic View

Klunkerkranich is not just a sundowner spot. With its rooftop terrace, bar, stage, and garden areas, it offers space for live concerts, DJ sets, open-air cinema nights, and creative workshops. There are two indoor areas: the so-called “Wohnzimmer” (Living Room) and the “Hinter den Alpen” (Behind the Alps) room. It is open from March until the end of December, with admission ranging from 0 to 5 Euros. There is also the adjacent Klunkergarten, where the view over Berlin can be enjoyed for free. Those who come early avoid the queues – and get the best spot at the railing.
