Silvester mit dem DSO und Circus Roncalli

On New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, the German Symphony Orchestra moves from the Berlin Philharmonie to the Tempodrom’s circus ring at Anhalter Bahnhof. Due to high demand, there are even three performances.

The idea behind this unusual combination of concert and acrobatics was originally born out of necessity. In 2003, the Berlin Tempodrom accidentally booked the New Year’s Eve slot for both the DSO and Circus Roncalli. This mishap turned into a New Year’s Eve hit!

Here, two worlds that don’t quite belong together meet, yet complement each other wonderfully: musical fireworks meet brilliant acrobatic art, orchestral winks meet clownish jokes, sound poetry meets magical imagery.

In just a few days, the Roncalli artists, together with the DSO musicians, create a total work of art. Only when the new Roncalli program is ready in mid-December can the detailed musical planning begin. Only then is it time for the DSO Orchestra and Circus Roncalli to say: Let the show begin!
