The Betty F has made a conscious choice against a Schöneberg location in favour of a basement in Berlin-Mitte. The majority of guests are LGBT and the bar scores big time with its especially trashy interior.

The bar is a meeting point for late at night (rather early in the morning) for people not wanting to go to one of Berlin’s clubs or folks who want to take a nightcap before hitting the sack.

The crowd here is a happy mix from all layers of Berlin’s LGBT society.

The bar supposedly derives its name “Betty F” from Betty Ford, the wife of former US-President Gerald Ford. After having overcome a drinking problem, she founded the well-known Betty-Ford-Center, a clinic to treat alcohol and drug problems which was also used among others by Elizabeth Taylor.
