An Irish Pub in Wedding with over two decades of history

Since 2000, the OFFSIDE Pub & Whisky Bar at Jülicher Straße 4 in Berlin’s Wedding district has stood for what a good Irish Pub should be: honest, hearty, loud. The house itself has even older roots. Even before the fall of the Wall, a pub was housed here, then under the name Bauernstube. Nearby is the famous Humboldthain Park with its flak tower, as well as the Labyrinth Children’s Museum, which makes the area around Gesundbrunnen a lively Berlin neighborhood. What also distinguishes the OFFSIDE is the passion of owner Lars Pechmann, who regularly hosts whisky tastings in the pub’s cozy private room and brings his knowledge from numerous trips to distilleries worldwide. It’s no wonder, then, that OFFSIDE was named Germany’s best whisky bar in 2015.

Beer, Cider, and Snacks at OFFSIDE

Those who step up to the counter will find seven types of draft beer as well as a cider on tap. In addition, there is a large selection of Irish, Scottish, and English bottled beers, including, of course, the classic Guinness. Local Berlin breweries like Eschenbräu are also part of the selection, as Wedding is noticeably close to OFFSIDE’s heart. The food menu is deliberately kept concise: it offers uncomplicated evening snacks, including a generous cheese and olive platter, as well as small bites that perfectly accompany the whiskys. So, if you plan to sample several drams, you should eat your fill beforehand. Nevertheless, the offering is exactly what you expect from an authentic Irish Pub: solid, without distraction from the essentials.
