Located at Stößensee in Spandau, the Weber Sailing School's watersports center features a yacht harbor, a private houseboat, and a sailing restaurant. Because the lake is sheltered, there's hardly any choppiness, which makes initial practical lessons easier. Training has been provided here since 1989, ranging from inland boating licenses to offshore sailing licenses, with a maximum of three people on board.
Weber Sailing School: Watersports Center at Stößensee in Spandau
The Weber Sailing School’s watersports center is located on Siemenswerderweg in Spandau, directly on Stößensee, one of the city’s quietest sections of the Havel river. It’s only five minutes from Theodor-Heuss-Platz, bus 149 stops nearby, and parking is available on the premises. The center includes a small yacht harbor, a private houseboat, sanitary facilities, and a sailing restaurant, as well as a sunbathing lawn with a barbecue area. Permanent mooring berths are designed for boats between five and nine meters in length and have electricity and water hookups. Because the lake is sheltered, there’s hardly any choppiness, which is an advantage, especially for initial practical lessons. The theoretical part of the training does not take place by the water, but in a dedicated training room on Pestalozzistraße in Charlottenburg. An intensive course for the inland sailing license costs 490 Euros, and the Basic I introductory course is 290 Euros.
Boating Licenses, Fleet, and Trips at Weber Sailing School
The business was founded in 1989, and the license program is correspondingly comprehensive. It ranges from the inland boating license for sailing and motorboats, the coastal boating license, and radio certificates UBI and SRC, to the coastal yachtmaster license and the offshore yachtmaster license. Crucial for quality is the group size: two students on the motorboat, and a maximum of three students on the sailboat. The fleet includes Ixylon dinghies, a Saga 20 cabin motorboat, a Sprinto 6.6 with a lifting keel, and an X 79, plus a training yacht in Stralsund for trips on the Baltic Sea. The Weber Sailing School also operates the Ixylon support center in Berlin and Brandenburg, allowing almost all types of this dinghy to be tried out at Stößensee before purchase. In addition to licenses, there’s spinnaker training, skipper and regatta training, a “mountain and valley” trip through the Spandau lock, and courses for children with their own sailing diploma. For school classes, the business offers a program called “the sailing classroom.”
