LeseGlück in Ohlauer Straße, Kreuzberg, is a neighborhood bookstore with coffee and a couch, founded in 2007 and awarded the German Bookstore Prize in 2021. LeseGlück Bookstore: Neighborhood Bookstore with Coffee on the Landwehr Canal

Eleni Efthimiou and Susan Pfannstiel founded LeseGlück in 2007 on Ohlauer Straße, just a few meters from Paul-Lincke-Ufer. Spread across approximately 60 square meters, you’ll find new books, coffee, and a couch where you can comfortably browse what interests you. In 2021, the shop received the German Bookstore Prize in the “Outstanding Bookstore” category. Eleni Efthimiou also regularly presents new releases on radioeins. If you don’t know what to read next, you’ll receive personal advice, in English upon request.

Assortment, Book Dinner, and Readings in the Theater Courtyard

The assortment is German and English, ranging from contemporary literature to social politics, graphic novels, and travel literature, as well as books on cooking, gardening, and urban planning. Titles from small and independent publishers have their fixed place on the shelves, complemented by a children’s book section. The program includes readings, film nights, concerts, and the Book Dinner, where literature and food are served together. LeseGlück regularly organizes literary evenings in the theater courtyard with the neighboring Theater Expedition Metropolis; admission is usually 10 Euros.
