Wasserkutsche

Right next to the Oberbaumbrücke in Kreuzberg, this small, charming houseboat adventure on the Spree begins. Wasserkutsche stands for handcrafted wooden boats with electric motors, personal service, and the most authentic way to discover Berlin from the water.
Rent a Houseboat Without a License, Right in Kreuzberg
Founder Jan learned his craft around the world, from New Zealand to Zanzibar, and today builds the boats with his team in a workshop in Kreuzberg. Each of these houseboats is a unique piece, created through careful handcraftsmanship from wood. The pier is located at Schlesische Straße 28, at the Höfe am Osthafen, right next to the famous Oberbaumbrücke, easily accessible on foot, by bike, or public transport. If you’ve never steered a boat before, don’t worry: after a brief introduction by the team, you’ll become a captain in no time and can playfully explore Berlin’s waterways.
Wasserkutsche: Features, Fleet, and Tours
At just 6 meters long and 2 meters wide, the boats are easy to steer. The quiet, emission-free electric motor even allows access to nature reserves, while the sundeck, aft deck, and foredeck invite you to frolic, jump in, or simply relax. On board, there are sleeping berths for four people, a refrigerator, a gas cooking facility, and an environmentally friendly camping toilet. If you need more space, opt for the flagship: the larger houseboat Rossi offers space for up to 10 people for day trips and sleeping accommodations for up to 6. As for routes, the possibilities are vast: whether the Spree, Havel, various canals, or the countless lakes in the surrounding area, if you rent a houseboat here, you can go anywhere in Berlin. For example, you can travel from the Oberbaumbrücke via the Landwehrkanal to Neukölln, or, if you have more time, via the Teltow Canal to Wannsee and further into the waters around Potsdam.
