Not far from the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Friedrichstraße, and other sightseeing points, the Hotel Arte Luise itself can be considered a landmark.
The “Luise” actually started as a Berlin art project in 1995. This developed into an astonishingly affordable, authentic, and incredibly individual hotel that exists in this form nowhere else in the world. 50 artists designed the rooms of the Arte Luise Art Hotel in their own personal way.
A completely black and white striped room, a room with a mannequin dancing on the table, one with a golden king-size bed, and “the nest,” with an oversized beak above the bed, are just a few examples.
The hotel is housed in Berlin-Mitte in a lovingly restored city palace from 1825; a new building was added in 2005. In total, the small hotel has just 50 rooms and suites, each a small work of art in itself.
A nice touch: For artists on a budget, some simple, very affordable rooms are available in the attic as a reminder of its beginnings as an art project.
