The Ackselhaus & Blue Home in Prenzlauer Berg is not a hotel in the traditional sense: two lovingly restored Wilhelminian-era buildings, packed with themed rooms, travel souvenirs, and a Mediterranean inner garden. Those who stay here don't just book a room, but a world.
The Ackselhaus: Every room, a different world
The two houses, one in ocher, the other in sky blue, stand side by side on a tree-lined street in Prenzlauer Berg. From the outside, they look like ordinary Wilhelminian-era buildings. But behind them lies the eclectic world of Ulf Acksel, entrepreneur, world traveler, and self-proclaimed free spirit.
The Ackselhaus houses impressive themed rooms, including the safari-like Africa Suite and the Picasso Room. Many are equipped with free-standing bathtubs, rainforest showers, and flat-screen TVs. Numerous rooms and mini-apartments look like film sets, packed with photos, paintings, and furniture evoking China, Rome, or Egypt. Each individual piece was collected by the owner on his travels. So this is not a sterile design hotel, but something much more personal.
Other rooms, in turn, transport you to the sea: with wood-paneled walls, model boats, and storm shutters. In the Blue Home, the maritime theme continues, with a spacious entrance area full of teak furniture, colorful fish paintings, a winter garden, and another beautiful garden. Between excursions through the capital, you can relax in the Mediterranean garden with a fountain.
Boutique Hotel in Prenzlauer Berg with excellent connections
The Ackselhaus & Blue Home is located on a quiet side street in Prenzlauer Berg, just two subway stations from Alexanderplatz. Kollwitzplatz with its stylish cafés, cozy bars, and trendy shops, as well as the Kulturbrauerei cultural hotspot, are just around the corner. This special hotel impresses not only with its interior, but also with its location in the middle of one of Berlin’s liveliest neighborhoods.
The two houses share a cozy breakfast room. Breakfast is included in the room price for direct bookings, and the nearby tram takes you to Alexanderplatz in just five minutes. So, character instead of a chain, in one of the city’s liveliest neighborhoods.
