The historical guest list right after the opening reads like a "Who is who" of the then celebrities; Marlene Dietrich, John Davison Rockefeller and Franklin D. Roosevelt stayed in the Adlon, also the favourite hotel of German Emperor Wilhelm II.
After the Berlin Wall came down, Kempinski succeeded obtaining the permit for its reinstitution. It was opened in 1997 with all of its old splendour and offers modern luxury extraordinaire - still on its old location with a view to the Brandenburg Gate. Amongst its amenities you will find the Adlon Spa and the Gourmet-Restaurant Lorenz Adlon, another restaurant of gourmet chef Tim Raue.
To this very day stars and starlets have stayed at the Adlon and some of them even provide for little scandals The scene, in which Michael Jackson showed his baby to his fans by holding it over the balcony railing has become legendary.
